      Who can use this feature?

Coupons, vouchers and tickets are already available in the free BASIC plan.

The sale of vouchers and tickets is a great way to generate additional revenue.

(Discount) coupons are a popular form of incentive. They make it easier for you to encourage guests to take a specific action (e.g., considering a restaurant visit that otherwise wouldn’t have happened).

      info

Tip: Created coupons, vouchers and tickets are connected to resmio’s newsletters. This means you can promote these offers directly to your guests via e-mail.

Differences between tickets / coupons / vouchers

Event tickets are designed for events and promotions that take place on a fixed date. Examples include concerts, festivals, or one-off discounts/promotions on a dish, such as a candle-light dinner.

Vouchers are value vouchers intended to serve as gift vouchers. The guest purchases the voucher for an amount of their choice. It is tied to the expiration date or the issue date. You can define the redemption conditions during configuration.

Coupons are used to promote special campaigns and offers or as bulk vouchers spanning a longer period of time. For example: two dishes for the price of one, valid from 01.04.2027 to 01.05.2027.

Payment for tickets, coupons and vouchers

Payment for tickets and vouchers via resmio is conveniently done online for your guests.

To do this, you may need to connect resmio to your Stripe and/or PayPal business account.

The following payment methods are available for guests to choose from:

      • SEPA direct debit
      • PayPal
      • Credit card
      • Debit card

What happens if a payment is invalid or fails?

If a payment fails, the purchase process is canceled and the guest receives an e-mail with the following message:

“Your payment failed, so the voucher / ticket is unfortunately not valid. You can purchase the ticket / voucher again.”

Checking and (partially) redeeming vouchers / event tickets

Once you have sold vouchers or event tickets, guests will eventually want to redeem them. We will guide you through the process step by step.

      resmio Voucher Overview

Under Promotion > Vouchers, you will find a chronologically sorted overview of all vouchers sold to date, including details on the voucher code, name, amount, date and status.

      search

Tip: Use the search function in the voucher overview to quickly access vouchers with older purchase dates.

      Teileinlöse von Gutscheinen über resmio
      • Upon purchase, the status is always set to not redeemed. Change the status by clicking the button when the guest presents their voucher in print or digitally on their smartphone.
      • You also have the option to mark the voucher as partially redeemed. This option is ideal if the guest does not redeem the entire voucher amount during a single restaurant visit. You can enter how much of the total amount the guest has already redeemed in the dialog window; the system then saves the remaining voucher value.
      • Only for withdrawal requests submitted within the statutory deadline: vouchers eligible for withdrawal are highlighted in red in the overview and display an additional Cancelled status. Please refer to the supplementary notes.
      • By clicking on the purchased voucher entry, you can also view further details.

Analogously, you can view the sold event tickets under Promotion > Events.

      • In the event list, click on the order overview next to the desired event.
      • You will receive an overview of the respective ticket sales and can now adjust further settings.
      • If guests present their ticket in print or digitally at your venue, you can search this list either by event code or guest name.
      • Then change the status of the respective ticket to redeemed.
      info

Note: Any ticket price has already been settled at the time of purchase. Ticket cancellations are not yet possible via the system. A refund of the payment must be processed through the connected payment providers Stripe or PayPal.

      Übersicht der Coupons in resmio

Distributed coupons can be seen under Promotion > Coupons.

      • In the overview, click on the order overview next to the desired coupon.
      • You will receive an overview of the respective coupon purchases and can now adjust further settings.
      • If guests present their coupon in print or digitally at your venue, you can search this list either by coupon code or guest name.
      • Then change the status of the respective coupon to redeemed.

      • Switch to the event list and select the relevant event ticket.
      • Then click on Deactivate at the top right. This stops the sale of new tickets; however, any tickets already purchased will not be automatically canceled. Refunding payments is currently only possible via Stripe / PayPal, not via resmio!
      • The setting remains in place until you reactivate the link.

Tip: Remember to also remove the link leading to the ticket purchase from your website!

      Withdrawal of Vouchers

Consumers (here: guests) are entitled to a statutory 14-day right of cancellation after purchasing value vouchers. They can withdraw from the contract without giving reasons.

resmio provides a technical withdrawal feature for digital vouchers against this background.

      1. Guests can check their claim via a form (accessible via a direct link in the e-mail after voucher purchase, the voucher widget, and ideally on the restaurant website) and then submit the cancellation electronically after a successful check.
      2. Restaurant operators are informed about canceled purchase contracts via e-mail notifications and in the resmio account (under Promotion > Vouchers). They independently arrange the timely refund via the connected payment providers (Stripe/PayPal) and then cancel the voucher in the system— this voids its validity.

With this process, we ensure that restaurateurs can fulfill their legal requirements.

      Cancellation from the restaurant’s perspective

Withdrawal scenario for restaurant owners who sell digital vouchers through resmio
      1. resmio automatically informs the account holder via e-mail about newly received cancellations. We recommend checking your inbox regularly.
      2. In the overview of all vouchers (under Promotion > Vouchers), canceled vouchers are highlighted in color (red background) and pinned until resolved (see below).
      3. As a restaurant operator, you must do two things:
        1. Initiate the refund via Stripe or PayPal.
        2. Once you have initiated the refund, set the status of the respective value voucher to Cancelled. This status cannot be undone.
        3. The affected voucher immediately loses its validity; redemption is no longer possible.
      4. As soon as the cancellation is processed, the guest is informed via e-mail.
      info

Note: For security reasons, only users with “Owner” permissions can change the voucher status to Cancelled.

      Cancellation from the guest’s perspective

      1. We inform the voucher buyer about the statutory right of cancellation in the final step of the voucher order.
      2. After placing the order via the “Buy” button, the guest has the opportunity to cancel the voucher purchase for the first time via a button.
      3. The buyer of the voucher also receives an e-mail notification through which they can conveniently cancel the order within the statutory period.
      4. The cancellation is made via a simple input form. When clicking from the voucher widget immediately after purchase or via e-mail, it is already pre-filled with all relevant data (voucher code, buyer name, e-mail address).
      5. The cancellation request is successful if it is submitted within the statutory period of 14 days after the purchase date. Outside this period, the guest receives a corresponding message.
      6. Successfully submitted cancellation requests are automatically confirmed to the guest via e-mail.
